Netball Facility Covering for Regional Council

The Broome Netball Court Cover delivers a high-performance, cyclone-resistant steel structure spanning approximately 4,000m² over four outdoor courts. NWSM’s design utilised modular truss sections to be bolted together on site — allowing for full open spans whilst minimising difficulties in transport and handling in a remote regional location. This project contributes to the ongoing development of high-quality sporting infrastructure in Broome.

NWSM was engaged as the structural design partner and fabricator for the Broome Netball Court Cover at the Broome Recreation & Aquatic Centre. The project comprised a Cyclonic Rated large-span steel canopy covering approximately 4,000m² across four outdoor netball courts, providing full-weather protection while maintaining open-sided ventilation and clear sightlines. NWSM’s scope included structural concept development, detailed engineering, cyclone-rated design to Region C, shop detailing, fabrication, and specification of protective coating systems for long-term coastal durability.
